The HOPE program is a collaborative project with Christian Friends of Korea, Hepatitis B Free, Global Care Partners, the DPRK Ministry of Public Health, and local doctors, to provide hepatitis B screening, follow-up, and treatment for the first time in the DPRK. The project started in 2015 and has been able to provide hepatitis B treatment at two different sites, and hopes to continue to expand.
Christine grew up in Chicago and after completing her training in Internal Medicine, is back in her hometown working as a hospitalist in the city. She has been involved in NK work for the past 5 years in various capacities. The current geopolitical climate has resulted in many obstacles in working in the DPRK, however, CFK has been one of the few organizations that has received permission to continue their work.
