Most volunteers can only serve short term in the mission fields. However well organized and executed short-term medical missions can produce good long-term results. The speaker will show examples of long-term impacts of short-term missions and highlight the keys to long-term success.
James H. Lau, M.D., M.A.(Bioethics) is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Anaheim, California. He isa co-founder and board chairman of Holistic Integrated Services (HIS) Foundation (www.his-foundation.org). HIS Foundation has over 20 years experience in short-term medical missions to China. Dr. Lau leads orthopaedic teams to China every year. The services rendered include outpatient treatment and reconstructive surgeries.
The Orange County Medical Association elected Dr. James Lau “Physician of Excellence” from 2005 to 2018. Dr. Lau is married to Shirley and they have three adult children David, Michelle, and Yvonne. Dr. Lau and his family are members of the Chinese Evangelical Free Church of Los Angeles.
