GMMA January 2017 Monthly Newsletter

President’s Greeting

Happy New Year!

Anticipate with me for another great year of serving and growing with the GMMA family in the year 2017. Let us continue to arise and shine for His glory.

No words are sufficient to express what my eyes witnessed and what my heart experienced as I traveled to many places to share about GMMA in 2016.  God’s evident leading and moving in the hearts of His children brought me to tears during many occasions and speechless when meeting individuals of His divine appointments who are faithfully serving now. Through GMMA, I have traveled to more places and met more college students and delivered more speeches globally than any other time in my life.  I am confident that I am not alone in these experiences. Each of us gave our two fish and five loaves to His calling, and He increased it into an amazing abundance.  In our joint effort, GMMA has touched thousands of lives during 2016. The conference alone touched more than a thousand people from around the world. Our many mission trips to different parts of the world touched many lives. Hundreds of new students joined us through new chapters. Also included in the list are numerous meetings we have attended to share about GMMA to thousands of people. In our response to the incredible growth God is granting, let us press forward boldly as His faithful servants.  Please remember that we will be accountable to the things He allows in our lives when we see Him face to face. So let us continue to serve together in vigor and thanksgiving, supported by fervent prayer and obedience.  Thank you for saying yes to His calling through GMMA. Below is a short video about what we did together in 2016 made by Elly Ko. I look forward to meeting you in person during 2017!

In His Service,
Peter Chung M.D

From December 16 to December 19, GMMA went on an extended Medical Mission Trip to La Misión, Mexico. The team consisted of 30 students from Biola, UC Riverside, University of Virginia, U of Washington, Northwestern University, Cornell University, and Princeton University, and 16 graduates, staff, and professionals. The team spent their time holding clinics, VBS outreaches, and even a Christmas party for the whole village. We thank you all who prayed for the team. The trip was a success because of your prayers.

On January 14, a team of 37 members consisting of students from Biola and UC Berkeley, staff, and professionals will be going on a one-day medical mission trip to Siloé Ministries. Please pray as they prepare and train for the mission trip. Please keep the team, its safety, and the trip in your prayers.

In February, USC will be taking a one-day medical mission trip to Siloé Ministries. Please pray for them as they are in the preparation stages.

Lastly, we ask that you pray for Siloé Ministries, La Misión, and Mexico. Because of soaring gas prices and a weak peso, there have been many riots throughout Mexico. Many of the families that come to Siloé for healthcare have been greatly affected. Please pray that God will comfort them and provide for them.

Don’t forget! GMMA members will be serving at various mission sites throughout the year. If you are interested in joining us, check out our website at Gmma7.org for more details.

Prayer Requests

  1. For GMMA to live out the missional life by doing and going.
  2. That a GMMA movement will start, be sustained, and end in fervent prayer.
  3. That each student chapter will be a light on their campus, and students to be renewed with new strength and focus as they start again.
  4. GMMA will truly be a family of God for all generations uniting to serve together for the glory of God
  5. GMMA members heal with Jesus in all work places.
  6. Let love and joy be abundant as we serve together, and through this love, people will know that we are the disciples of Jesus Christ.
  7. Bless our mission sites and monthly GMMA mission trips to bring many to Christ by His power and be protected in safety for all activities.

Few highlights for December activities entail the out of state combined medical mission trip to Mexico. Dr. Peter Chung flew into California to join the 4 day trip. It was a wonderful time of serving, learning, and getting to know each other.  Students of seven different campuses joined in the effort for this trip (UVA, Northwestern, UW Seattle, Princeton, Cornell, Biola, and UCR). The 46 member team healed with Jesus in the midst of rain and cold weather, and even provided a great Christmas party for the orphanage in Mexico. When we act in obedience, God honors and showers us with blessings. The trip brought the team closer together in His love. After the trip, Dr. Chung and Dr. Kim served the California chapter through a wonderful Christmas gathering to celebrate and thank the officers and the board members. It was a great time of good food, games, prayer, and gifts! We can always look forward to a great party when the GMMA family gets together!

In December, we had our national mission trip to Mexico. UC Riverside, Biola University, Northwestern University, University of Virginia, Cornell University and University of Washington joined us to Mexico. GMMA President, Dr. Peter Chung, many campus mentors including Dr. Sang-hoon Ahn, Dr. David Choi and Dr. Iris Lee and many other doctors joined this mission trip. Due to the size of the team, there was a lot of work done by our headquarter staff and the student leaders. However, God has definitely showed His faithfulness and given us blessing through different people from all over the country.

Christmas Party
At the Christmas party, we were able to celebrate a great year in the Lord. We ate and had fellowship through team games and writing encouragement letters to each other. During the party, we reflected on God’s faithfulness and provision in the year 2016 and prayed together. We also had a time of worship. Overall, God has allowed incredible growth in GMMA through the student chapters. We are grateful for His provision and love this year, and are excited for another year full of blessings.
